Maritime Satellite TV

Watching TV remains a valued pastime for seamen when off-duty on the vessel, but it can be difficult to determine how to receive your favorite channels while at sea.

Seasat A/S have many years of experience with maritime satellite TV and can assist you in finding the right solution for you.

Receiving TV on a vessel requires several parts for a succesful installation:

  1. You need the right stabilized antenna, often called a TVRO (TV-Receive-Only) antenna. This needs to be made specifically for maritime use.
Seasat work with the leading manufactorers for maritime TVRO systems: Cobham Satcom (SAILOR & Sea Tel), Intellian and KNS and can supply TVRO antennas to serve every need and sailing area, ranging in sizes from 45cm to 3.5m
  2. In most areas you may find a selection of so-called Free-To-Air (FTA) channels available. These can be viewed with a standard set top box. However, the variety and quality of these channels is declining so you will likely need a TV subscription containing a selection of your favorite channels.
Seasat work with the leading TV providers and can offer special maritime subscription plans to make sure your vessels are in compliance with local regulations as well as well entertained.
  3. For smaller vessels we normally recommend distributing the TV signal directly to each TV on board. This requires a set top box and a decoder card for each TV.
For larger vessels you can choose a centralized TV distribution system where the decoding and handling of the signal is controlled centrally and distributed over the standard TV cabling that is normally found already installed on board many vessels.

Seasat can assist you in finding the right solution for you and we can supply everything needed to make sure you have uninterrupted TV on board.
